How do I choose a size?
Approximate chest sizing: XS 13-17 in, S 17-22 in, M 22-26 in. XS suits a Yorkie, a Chihuahua or a Miniature Dachshund, S a Cocker, a Beagle or a Border Collie, M a Labrador, a Boxer or a German Shepherd. Measure right round the ribcage just behind the front legs. If your dog is between two, add the measurement in your order notes and we will match it before it ships.
What is the front ring for?
Turning a puller around. Clipped to the back, a dog leaning into the lead has a straight line to pull along; clipped to the front, the same pull rotates them gently sideways so they end up facing you. That redirection is the basis of most loose-lead training, and it works from the first walk without any equipment that causes discomfort.
What is the handle actually for?
The moment you need the dog beside you and there is no time to reel in the lead: a cyclist coming up behind, a vet door, a lift, a narrow sidewalk with a child on it. Because it sits over the shoulders you are steering rather than lifting, and nothing loads the neck.
How does it go on?
Over the head once, then a buckle on each side at the ribs. Four sliders let you set the neck and the girth separately, which is what makes it sit right on a dog that is broad at the chest and narrow behind.
Will it hold a dog that lunges?
The panel is padded ripstop with the load spread across the whole chest and shoulders, the rings are steel, and both side straps carry a buckle rather than one. Get it snug with two fingers under the girth and it stays where you put it.
How do I wash it?
Undo both buckles, hand wash cool and air dry. Ripstop and the padded lining both dry quickly; keep it out of a hot dryer so the webbing does not shrink around the stitching.
Why this rather than a cheaper harness?
