Will it work on black nails?
It helps, but be honest about the limits. On very dark nails the light shows less. Take thin slices and watch the cut face, when a small pale circle appears in the centre, stop.
What if I cut too far anyway?
Keep styptic powder or cornflour to hand and press it on the nail for a few seconds. If bleeding does not stop within a few minutes, call your vet.
Is it suitable for a large dog?
Yes. The blades handle thick nails on large breeds as well as thin ones on small dogs.
How do I change the battery?
The LED runs on small cells in the handle. Open the compartment on the underside and replace them like for like.
How do I clean it?
Wipe the blades dry after use and keep them out of water so they do not corrode. A drop of oil on the pivot occasionally keeps the action smooth.
Can I use these on a cat?
They are sized for dog nails. A cat is better served by a small scissor-style clipper.
