Will the rim go flat?
It compresses under a dog and springs back. The rim is filled, not just gathered fabric. Give it a shake every few weeks and it keeps its loft. Very heavy dogs will flatten the centre more than the rim.
Can the whole bed go in the machine?
Yes. There is no separate cover to remove. Cold gentle cycle, then air dry it flat. Do not tumble dry it, as heat mats the plush.
Does the plush shed?
A little in the first week, then it settles. It is long-pile fleece, so expect some fluff on the first vacuum. It does not shed continuously.
Which size should I order?
Measure your dog curled up, nose to tail, and add about 6 inches. The 16 and 20 in sizes suit cats and very small dogs, 24 to 27.5 in most small breeds, 31.5 in a medium dog and 39 in a large one.
Is it too warm for summer?
Possibly. Long plush holds heat, which is the point in winter and a drawback in a hot room. If your dog runs hot, a breathable flat mat suits them better than this.
Will my dog chew the rim?
Some do, especially puppies. It is soft fabric, not a chew-resistant weave. If your dog destroys bedding, this is not the bed for them.
Does it suit cats?
Very much. Cats curl tighter than dogs and the rim suits them well. The 16 and 20 in sizes are the usual choice.
