Is this real leather?
No. The supplier calls it leather but it is a soft synthetic with a suede-look finish. We would rather say so plainly. It behaves well, wipes clean, and no animal hide is involved.
Can I put it in the washing machine?
No. It is hand wash and wipe clean only. The size and the waterproof base make machine washing a bad idea. For most spills a damp cloth is enough.
How do I choose the size?
Go by your dog’s weight: S up to 3 lb, M up to 9 lb, L up to 16 lb, XL up to 33 lb and XXL up to 55 lb. The outer sizes run from 16 x 12 in up to 38 x 25.5 in. Measure your dog lying stretched out, add about 6 inches, and check that against the outer length. If your dog sleeps sprawled rather than curled, take the next size up.
Will the sides collapse when my dog leans on them?
They are filled walls, not gathered fabric, so they compress and recover. Constant leaning in the same spot will soften that section over time, as it would on any bed.
Is it suitable for an older dog?
Consider carefully. The high sides are the whole point of this bed, but they also mean stepping over an edge. A dog with stiff hips may do better on a flat mat with no walls.
Does it hold smell?
Less than a fabric bed, because the surface wipes rather than absorbs. The waterproof base stops anything soaking through into the filling.
