You Stopped Lighting Candles For A Reason
Everybody wants the flicker and nobody wants the rest of it: the wax, the curtain, the cat, the tenth time you got into bed and had to get out again. The Embera makes the flame out of LED light shining through mist. Nothing burns and nothing gets hot.
A soft orange flame rises the full width of the slot, moving the way firelight actually moves, with cool ultrasonic mist carrying it. It runs off USB, it is quiet at under 36 dB, and it can stay on with the door shut and nobody in the room.

Why It’s Better

- Flame Is An LED: Orange light flickering through rising mist, with no wick, no wax, no heat and nothing to blow out.
- Full-Width Slot: The flame runs the whole width of the top rather than rising from one point, so it reads as firelight.
- Mist And Scent: Cool ultrasonic mist that carries the scent of an oil, or runs perfectly well on plain water.
- Leave It On: Nothing is burning, so it can stay lit in a room you have walked out of.
- Quiet: Under 36 dB, a soft hiss rather than a hum you notice.
- USB Powered: Runs off any phone brick, so it moves to any shelf.
Perfect for the shelf where a candle used to be
There is usually one spot in a house that a candle used to occupy and now sits empty: too close to a curtain, too reachable by a cat, too easy to forget. A flame made of light and water solves every one of those objections at once and does the identical job to the room. On a dark evening in a warm-lit corner it is genuinely convincing.
The flicker, without the wick.

Questions

Is it a real flame?
No, and that is the point. It is an LED lighting the mist as it rises. There is no wick, no wax, no smoke and no heat, so nothing scorches, nothing drips and there is nothing to extinguish.
I have a cat. Can I use essential oils in it?
Check with your vet first. Many common essential oils are toxic to cats, tea tree, eucalyptus, citrus, peppermint, pine and ylang ylang among them, and birds are more sensitive again. Plain water works perfectly well in this unit and is what we would use in a home with a cat or a bird. If you do use an oil, run it in a ventilated room the animal can walk out of.
Can I leave it running overnight?
There is nothing burning in it, so it does not carry a candle’s risks. As with any ultrasonic unit, empty the tank rather than leaving standing water in it and give the plate a wipe now and then.
What does it do to the air?
It puts moisture back into it. Dry indoor air is what leaves you with a scratchy throat, a blocked nose and a static shock off the door handle every winter, and this pushes a cool ultrasonic mist back into the room all evening. Add a drop of oil and the same mist carries the scent with it.
How big is it?
6.7 by 3.1 by 3.9 inches and 365 g, so it is a shelf or bedside object rather than something that fills a room.
What water should I use?
Filtered or distilled if your area is hard. Tap water works, but mineral scale builds on the plate faster and you will be wiping it more often.
Why this rather than a candle?
No flame, no wax, no smoke and nothing to forget about. You get the same moving flame glow, plus scent carried on cool mist, from a USB unit you can leave running all evening.
