The dog should be able to sit and turn round comfortably. If you are unsure, put your dog’s weight and shoulder height in the order notes and we will tell you before it ships.
How does it attach to the car?
Two straps loop over the headrest posts and a third runs round the base of the seat back, so the basket is pulled tight against the upholstery at three points. It takes about a minute and nothing is fixed permanently to the car. It works on a rear bench or a front passenger seat with the airbag switched off.
Does the dog stay in it?
A webbing tether inside clips to the back of a harness, so a dog can sit, turn and lie down but cannot jump out at a junction or climb into the footwell. Clip it to a harness rather than a collar, so any sudden stop spreads across the chest.
Will it fit my car?
Any seat with a headrest that has posts. The straps adjust through sliders and the base is a standard seat width, so it fits saloons, hatchbacks, estates and SUVs. On a bench seat there is still room for a passenger beside it.
Can I use it outside the car?
Yes, and plenty of people do. It works as a carry basket on a train, a stable seat at a cafe or a raised bed at home, since the sides hold their shape whether it is strapped in or not.
How do I clean it?
Take it out, shake it off and sponge the lining with warm soapy water, then leave it open to dry. The panels are foam-stiffened polyester, so they keep their shape as long as you do not put the whole thing in a machine.
Why this rather than a blanket on the seat?
Because a blanket solves the hair and none of the behavior. The dog is still at seat level, still cannot see out, and still ends up in the footwell at the first roundabout. Height and a tether are what actually change the journey, and you get the hair protection anyway.
