You Always Pour Too Much

Questions
How does the water go back in?
The button works both ways. Press it to push water out into the trough, and press it again with the bottle upright to draw what is left back down into the body. It is the same mechanism, not a separate valve.
Will it leak in a bag?
There is a lock slider above the button that holds it shut, and locked it does not run in a bag.
Can I put hot water in it?
Only in the 11.8 oz and 18.6 oz sizes, which are PC and take hot or cold. The 10.1 oz size is PET and it is limited to water below 113 F, so cold or cool only in that one.
Which size should I choose?
10.1 oz and 11.8 oz are both 8.7 in tall and suit a normal walk with a small or medium dog. 18.6 oz is 10.7 in and is the one for a large dog, a hot day or a long route.
How do I clean it?
Unscrew the body from the head and wash both in warm soapy water, then let the head dry with the trough open. Do not put it in a dishwasher: heat distorts the trough and the seal around the button.
Is it only for dogs?
A cat will drink from the trough if it is used to being walked, but this is sized and shaped for a dog. The trough is wider than most cats prefer.
Why not just carry a bottle and a bowl?
Because you will not, and that is the point. One shape does both, works one-handed while the lead stays in the other, and the water you do not use goes back in the bottle instead of on the pavement.
